" The tracks were recorded in Los Angeles

but were released in the UK on the Ardent label in July 1979.
Fred Wesley's horn section was used on 'Disco Music'.

LITTLE STORY ABOUT THIS REALISE :

" The break came when Robert Rosenthal, a local radio promoter and acquaintance of G.C.'s, sent some tapes to a contract he had in England, Ardent Enterprises' Paul Mooney, based in Co. Durham.
Paul was suitably impressed and eventually released the tracks, "Wait Until Tomorrow" and "Shadows", independently on rden in February of this year (1989) ten years after the label's only prior release —.
with a view to achieving greater recognition for his talented friend.

G.C. was so appreciative of Paul's sterling efforts that they eventually agreed to an exclusive management and publishing pact... even though the pair have never met!
There exists an obvious mutual trust, respect and understanding between them, as G.C. relates. "When I was in the marines ... I learned to deal with human characteristics kind of closely, and trusting people."

THE TRUE STORY OF THE BAND BY Monsieur Robbie M. himself !

I had been trying to rejuvenate the previous band that I was a member of called "All Together As One" (ATAO)

but with little success.

One day while jamming with several musician friends,

one of them asked me if I wanted to meet a guy who played drums.

His name was Melvin Martin.

After our meeting he seemed interested in helping to start a new band.

We both started trying to recruit members.

We started with the rhythm section and later added several female vocalists.

The band called itself "Midnight Express".

The band began to gig and gain popularity.

They soon added a horn section which made them a 10-piece band.

As the band's popularity continued to increase

they began to perfect their showmanship and

the name changed to "The Midnight Express Show Band".

The members and their roles were as follows:

Robert Muskeyvalley - Lead Singer

Larnette Winston - Vocalist

Vivian Freeman (Gardner) - Vocalist

Melvin Martin - Drums and Percussions

was launched in 1975 by Frederick Knight and childhood friend Clinton Harris, After Stax's demise .

Frst act to record for Juana was the Controllers

with the single "Pictures And Memories/ Is That Long Enough For You"

(I'm think it's the first single from the band ,and maybe the first juana realised !)

Then came Anita Ward’s mega hit “Ring My Bell”

which launched Juana Records into the World Wide Sales Arena.

Anita say in a interview that she didn't want to sing this song

For 35 years, the sketches for 24-Carat Black’s sophomore release hibernated in keyboardist and session engineer Bruce Thompson’s basement below the south side of Chicago. Abandoned by Warren when the studio bill darkened his mailbox, the tapes, over decades, had fallen into soggy disrepair, useless save for the six tracks featured on our release. Because Gone: The Promises Of Yesterday is by no means a sequel to Ghetto: Misfortune’s Wealth.

Missing are the poignant and bleak sermons on the pain of inner-city existence, replaced by dusky, sensuous re-workings of tainted love songs Warren had written as far back as 1965 during his time as a songwriter at Shrine and Motown. Still, his unfinished self-reinvention, even heard through the prism of these skeletal remnants, delivers on a remarkable purity of vision: one man’s corner of black culture, 24 carats pure and mishandled perhaps until now, finally a bit less misunderstood.

Surement le moins connu de ses maxi pourtant il y a sacrer potentiel inside ! je pense que c'est le premier son qu'il a réaliser malgres qu'il sois sorti apres 'body shake" sur un des trés rare label et superbe 'romantic rec' début de carriere oblige , il cherchera un label qui lui 'va' bien' puiqu'il debutera chez Chris Palmer sur ' Groove Production' (C.Palmer est un mek de studio qui créera son label début 80 ) et d'ailleurs mixera le premier titre de T C en 81 pour passer chez 'romantic rec' içi donc en 82 et enfin il créera son propre label' hot melt' en 83 ... pour commencer avec le magnifique et terrible 'bump& slide' comme le dit si bien l'expression "on n'est jamais mieux servi que par sois-même" Vous connaisser tous son "dance to the beat" (ecouter la dub version surtout) ou 'you should have know better' avec 'galaxy' (phil fearon) en back vocal ses dernier bon titres seront 'le't s make love' et ' slave for love' apres 86 son styl change....
