Taped in Long Beach, California in July 0f '81,the live album is a perfect showcase for James' undeniably funky and fun music. After starting things off with a funky introduction (courtesy of the underrated Stone City Band),Rick kicks things off with "Ghetto Life",and the party has begun. "Big Time" comes next, with James promising that "Before we leave, we gon' turn this motherfucker out!".Another track from the 'Garden Of Love' album follows, "Come Into My Life", before opening act Tena Marie joins the festivities for a spirited version of "I'm A Sucker For Love". James and Marie engage in a hilarious girl vs. boy mock battle. Teena then does her own red-hot hit "Square Biz". A blistering rendition of "Fire It Up" comes next, which includes the sing-along chant "We want Rick to funk us up". He obliges, launching into "Love Gun", then venturing into a short, jazzyinterlude called "Do You Want Some Funk". An 11-minute version of "Mary Jane"follows, with Rick James repeatedly asking "Whatcha wanna smoke tonight?". By song's end, it has become transformed into a tribute to the late Bob Marley (who had recently passed away, when this concert took place). The show then closes with three of Jame's biggest hits,"Super Freak", "You And I" (a sweaty 12-minute version),and "Give It To Me Baby".
Récemment, on a pu y applaudir tour à tour Bireli Lagrene, Shakti, Roy Ayers, Didier Lockwood, Roy Hargrove et Ernesto Tito Puentes... Artistes et musiciens de renom qui contribuent encore aujourd'hui à faire de la scène du New Morning, une adresse internationalement connue et reconnue.____________________________________________________hi to all ,

Gene Redd , Nathaniel Yisrael & Jackie story :
Like the other youth Yisrael recruited, Stoudemire grew up in Harlem, not far from the temple, and attended the High School of Music & Art with Annette Denvil.
By 1982 standards, Jackie was patently hip, hanging with schoolmates Dana Dane and Slick Rick’s Kangol Crew.
In Jeremiah’s eyes, she combined the perfect trait set: mature talent and work ethic with youth and impressionability.
Within a few months, she was in-studio with Redd and Yisrael, where she would spend the lion’s share of 1982.
Jeremiah was putting significant dollars into the recordings, using dozens of musicians for every session (purportedly Barry White’s Love Unlimited Orchestra), sometimes spending weeks perfecting the backing tracks.
He upgraded studios, recording primarily at Right Track and Power Station, neither of them known for their affordability.
The raw sound of Arnie Love’s Mayfair session just a year before became a distant memory. Ten songs were recorded over the course of the year, including a remake of Love’s “Invisible Wind,” with crisper strings and a simpler arrangement.
Jackie’s voice was cool and sure, not a hint of her age coming through the mix.
The real nugget was “Guilty,” one of the last songs Gene Redd would ever pen and some of the finest production work in a career that spanned four decades.
Stoudemire was totally immersed in Jeremiah Yisrael’s life, even picking up shifts at T&T for walking-around money.
Naturally, Jeremiah insisted that she join the temple.
She attended a service, but it clearly wasn’t her scene.
The sect forced subservience on women through dress and required them to walk three paces behind the men—concepts alien to a child of 70s New York City.
At the time, Jackie’s choice was no problem for Jeremiah.
They logged eight to ten hour days in the studio, culminating at the beginning of 1983 when her 12” was given a limited issue on the Tap label, along with the Missy Dee & the Melody Crew 12” (relegated to the Universal label, to separate it from the more polished material).
Again, lack of distribution and promotion killed the pressing, but Jackie still felt good about it. For a woman of any age, it was an accomplished piece of work.
The end for Tap began with tragedy: Gene Redd passed unexpectedly early in 1983 from a frightening illness that as yet had barely been named: AIDS.
Deeply misunderstood, the disease was half a decade away from even primitive treatments, and Redd was gone before anyone knew he was sick.
Without Jeremiah’s genius-muse, there wasn’t much hope for the future of his productions. Soon after, Jeremiah severed his business relationship with Jackie Stoudemire.
He arrogantly explained to her parents that she was “afraid of success,” but it wasn’t difficult to read between the lines: Their parting had everything to do with Jackie’s dismissal of the Brotherhood.
Jackie graduated from high school in 1983 and went immediately to performing arts college, after which she spent years as a somewhat successful stage player.
Her hit finally came in 1994 when she signed to the Eightball label and blew up the club charts with “Appreciate.”

Edward Saunders, visionary and founder of Merle Art Music Productions, was born and raised in Newark NJ the knee baby, fourth out of five children from parents Naomi and Charles Saunders.
Early on, Eddie received his musical influences from his mother.
At the tender age of ten, Eddie discovered he was a natural born drummer and later expanded his love of percussion by playing the piano.
After much growth and evolution, his local church accepted the art of drumming and as a young boy added him to their roster of paid musicians.
His travels as a percussionist began a journey of networking and afforded him the opportunity to do studio work with such greats as Donnie Harper and the Voices of Tomorrow and Charles Stewart and the Good News Singers.
These experiences ignited a career as a musical producer working with various singers in multiple capacities: provided vocal training for Tisha Campbell, wrote and produced music for the young Raven Simone, wrote and arranged “Baby Please be Mine” by Regina Bell, collaborated on projects with the likes of Dave Pic Conley of Surface, Gwen Guthrie, Cuba Gooding Sr., Mary J Blige, Paul Gainer, Blue Lovett of the Manhattans, Whitney Houston, Billy Baker, John Simmons and a host of other artists.
In his musical endeavors, he founded the group
The N.J. Connection which birthed the hit single, Love Don’t Come Easy which overseas landed him the # 10 spot on London’s charts and in the # 50s spot in NY in the 1980s.
Most recently, Eddie Saunders most prized accomplishment is his service as lead musician for the Praise and Worship Team at Saint John’s Community Baptist Church.

In 1975 Jayson signed with Mushroom Records, Vancouver BC. They released one Album titled "Jayson Hoover" and off it released the singles: "Love Will Get You", and "(She's) My Lady", both of which had moderate Radio play in Canada. The album was produced by "Mike Flicker" who shortly afterwards produced the first Mushroom recording session for "Heart", of which Newcombe & Maxwell played on.
The one track "How Deep It Goes" from this session is on Heart's "Dreamboat Annie" Album. Jayson Hoover n Stuff disbanded in the Spring of '76. (Notes Not to be confused with Mushroom Records [AUS] or Mushroom [GBR] )

During the mid to late seventies the production team of Laurin Rinder and W. Michael Lewis helped to define the Disco sound that was coming out of Los Angeles with studio projects as El Coco, Saint Tropez, Le Pamplemousse and countless others. At the height of their fame in the late 1970's they produced several concept albums as Seven Deadly Sins and Warriors under their own names Rinder & Lewis.
