Black Ivory was formed in 1969 by fellow members, Russell Patterson, and Stuart Bascombe. Even though Black Ivory released some great singles during the 1971-73 period, their label Today Records was going though some financial problems, so the group vowed to get out of their contract. After being released from their contact in late 1973, the group signed with the newly formed " Kwanza Records label in early 1974. " Kwanza" was a subsidary of Warner Bros. They recorded a funky get down single called "What Goes Around ( Comes Around)" and released it around the spring of 74,along with an appearance on tv's Soul Train. The label would fold very quickly, which prompt the group to sign with Buddah records in early 1975. They recorded a LP," Feel It" and release another great ballad, " Will We Ever Come Together". They continued to record for the label until their LP in 1977, " Black Ivory". By then steam was running out for the group and Leroy Burgess left the group, leaving Bascombe and Patterson to form Black Ivory as a duo. Their last hit as a twosome was a dance club favorite named, " Mainline" in 1979. They split up in early part of the 80's , after a last lp ''Then And Now ' on Panoramic Records.

Jackie Stoudemire & Al Stewart - Dancing (Taps REC.)1981

Jackie Stoudemire grew up in Harlem, not far from the temple, and attended the High School of Music & Art with Annette Denvil. By 1982 standards, Jackie was patently hip, hanging with schoolmates Dana Dane and Slick Rick’s Kangol Crew. In Jeremiah’s eyes, she combined the perfect trait set: mature talent and work ethic with youth and impressionability. Within a few months, she was in-studio with Redd and Yisrael, where she would spend the lion’s share of 1982.

QUESTION : IS THE SOUL MUSIC CAN KILL ? ANSWER ---) Mighty Clouds Of Joy CAN REALLY KNOCK YOU OUT ... FROM THE 1975 LP KICKIN' THE LAST SONG : 2009 RECONSTRUCTED /TIME : 8.OO The legendary gospel group Mighty Clouds Of Joy celebrate their 50th anniversary in 2008. They're still going strong and sound great. The leader and lead singer then and now is Joe Ligon (born Oct. 11, 1936 in Troy, AL). He moved to Los Angeles as a teen and formed the group in high school with Johnny Martin(d.1987), Richard Wallace, Leon Polk and Ermant & Elmo Franklin.(d. 2008), . They signed with Peacock Records and made their first recording in 1959. They've always been popular for their great sound and showmanship. They were known as The Temptations Of Gospel. But a funny thing happened in the mid-70s. Somehow their 1975 song Mighty High became a huge disco hit. The Clouds were the first gospel group to appear on Soul Train. People didn't know it was gospel but it was. Of course it was their only mainstream hit but they continue to record ...
