LITTLE STORY ABOUT THIS REALISE  :

" The break came when Robert Rosenthal, a local radio promoter and acquaintance of G.C.'s, sent some tapes to a contract he had in England, Ardent Enterprises' Paul Mooney, based in Co. Durham.
Paul was suitably impressed and eventually released the tracks, "Wait Until Tomorrow" and "Shadows", independently on rden in February of this year (1989) ten years after the label's only prior release —. 
with a view to achieving greater recognition for his talented friend.

G.C. was so appreciative of Paul's sterling efforts that they eventually agreed to an exclusive management and publishing pact... even though the pair have never met!
There exists an obvious mutual trust, respect and understanding between them, as G.C. relates. "When I was in the marines ... I learned to deal with human characteristics kind of closely, and trusting people."

THE TRUE STORY OF THE BAND  BY Monsieur Robbie M. himself !

I had been trying to rejuvenate the previous band that I was a member of called "All Together As One" (ATAO)

but with little success.

One day while jamming with several musician friends,

one of them asked me if I wanted to meet a guy who played drums. 

His name was Melvin Martin. 

After our meeting he seemed interested in helping to start a new band. 

We both started trying to recruit members. 

We started with the rhythm section and later added several female vocalists.

The band called itself "Midnight Express".

The band began to gig and gain popularity. 

They soon added a horn section which made them a 10-piece band. 

As the band's popularity continued to increase

they began to perfect their showmanship and

the name changed to "The Midnight Express Show Band".

The members and their roles were as follows:

Robert Muskeyvalley - Lead Singer

Larnette Winston - Vocalist

Vivian Freeman (Gardner) - Vocalist

Melvin Martin - Drums and Percussions

Terry Patton - Bass and Rhythm Guitar

Richard Farrar - Lead and Rhythm Guitar

Juana Records pronounced (WA- NA) 

was launched in 1975 by Frederick Knight and childhood friend Clinton Harris, After Stax's demise .

Frst act to record for Juana was the Controllers 

with the single "Pictures And Memories/ Is That Long Enough For You"

(I'm think it's the first single from the band ,and maybe the first juana realised !)

Then came Anita Ward’s mega hit “Ring My Bell” 

which launched Juana Records into the World Wide Sales Arena.

Anita say in a interview  that she didn't want to sing this song 

because she only like singing slows ...

...and it  was a super hit all over the world , incredible but it's the true story !!!

impossible de noter tout les artistes qu elle a cotoyer , mais sa carriere debute vraiment lorsqu elle croise la route de Tony Green fin 70 et son décollage culbute en 1980 avec son alliance chez l'incroyable label Prism !

elle rencontrera bien sur Mr Boule Noir notre canadien lover ,

elle a deux titre en french donc réalisé vers 75/ 76

Members were Reginald Ross, George Parker and Roger Terry.
Terry Huff joined the group in 1974. 

They collaborated with producer/songwriter called Rafael Gerald and released one album in 1974 on Spring Records.

Then they left Spring Records for Mainstream Records and re-formed with Huff, and changed their name to Special Delivery. 

The group recorded a éponyme lp without Terry Huff on Shield Records in 1978 with this song , 

produced by George Parker.

the record didn’t approach radio’s pop standards and wasn’t near white enough for the mainstream press. Warren’s brainchild band simply pushed past their concept’s conclusion, piling up dozens of reels for an intimate follow-up album that no one in the world wanted to hear. Yet. With their ambitious debut LP downgraded to cutout status when Stax finally shuttered in 1975, 24-Carat Black found themselves watching their moment recede in the rearview. 

For 35 years, the sketches for 24-Carat Black’s sophomore release hibernated in keyboardist and session engineer Bruce Thompson’s basement below the south side of Chicago. Abandoned by Warren when the studio bill darkened his mailbox, the tapes, over decades, had fallen into soggy disrepair, useless save for the six tracks featured on our release. Because Gone: The Promises Of Yesterday is by no means a sequel to Ghetto: Misfortune’s Wealth. 

Missing are the poignant and bleak sermons on the pain of inner-city existence, replaced by dusky, sensuous re-workings of tainted love songs Warren had written as far back as 1965 during his time as a songwriter at Shrine and Motown. Still, his unfinished self-reinvention, even heard through the prism of these skeletal remnants, delivers on a remarkable purity of vision: one man’s corner of black culture, 24 carats pure and mishandled perhaps until now, finally a bit less misunderstood.

Mel Cheren etait chez Scepter Records avant de fonder son propre label avec Ed
et c'est la bas qu il avait croiser la route avec Tom Moulton d'ailleurs
c'est un des label d ou sortir les premier 12 inch test pressing en 1975 sous l'idées deTom bien sur ....
une longue histoire que vous connaisser sinon c'est içi ;

retour sur les Miller avec a l 'écoute cette version revu et corriger pour 2010 , bon plaisir ami du funk !
